The Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF), which advocates the public policy interests of the 200 most prestigious corporations and institutions in the transportation, tourism, aviation and investment sectors, is lobbying the Australian Government and the Opposition to prioritise the viability of the tourism industry during the forthcoming federal election campaign.
The TTF recently conducted a survey with operators from leading companies across the country.
According to TTF managing director, Chris Brown, the results confirmed that international tourism has slowed significantly and business in the domestic sector is only rated as ?average?.
Furthermore, the operators indicated that more supported is needed at federal level.
We need to have both Martin Ferguson, the Minister and Steve Ciobo on the Gold Coast to step up and talk to industry about how they are going to restore confidence, about how they are going to put the budget of Tourism Australia back where it was before it got eaten away, about how they see a stimulus package that goes to an industry that employs more Australians than just about any other industry in the country, Mr Brown said.
